More than 157 corporate and community teams have signed up to Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia’s iconic fundraising event Up All Night.
Launched in 2018, the RMHC WA event is one of a kind in Australia, where over 1,000 enthusiastic Western Australians embark on a 42km overnight walking marathon in Perth.
One WA company that has been a long-time supporter of the event is resources company IGO. “For our people, participating in Up All Night is more than just raising important donations. It has become an important part of our annual calendar, allowing our people to come together, get out of their comfort zone, and connect with the incredible cause that Up All Night represents,” IGO Chief People Officer Sam Retallack said.
“We are extremely proud to support Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia to continue to provide vital services for families who need it most,” she said.
“As a WA-based company with operations across our vast state, IGO is committed to supporting all Western Australians, and particularly understands the challenges faced by those living in remote and regional communities whose children need access to medical care in Perth.”
Up All Night has become an iconic event within IGO – and many other organisations in WA.
Last year, more than fifty IGO staff participated in the event. “Over the many years we have supported the event, we have been proud to see increased participation each year," Ms Retallack said.
“Aside from the physical challenge of the event, Up All Night allows our people to connect with RMHC in a different way, and further the connection we have had with the organisation through our involvement in other programs such as Home for Dinner which we have also supported for many years,” Ms Retallack said.
Up All Night presents organisations with an opportunity to not just support the WA community, it also promotes staff engagement within an organisation’s community-giving initiatives and team building.
“Along with giving back to our local communities, our people relish in the physical and mental challenge of walking a marathon overnight as well as the camaraderie – and a bit of competitiveness,” she said.
“It brings people from the different areas of our organisation together for a shared experience that is fun, strengthens our culture and helps our community.”
As WA’s home away from home, supporters of RMHC WA have a direct impact on keeping WA families with sick or injured children close together during difficult times.
Up All Night, held on Saturday, 22 March 2025, involves walking 42km to raise vital funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia. Here’s how your workplace can register.
