Miners’ Promise is delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Murray to the Miners’ Promise Board as non-executive Director.
Ian brings with him over 25 years’ mining industry experience in senior leadership positions including the position of Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Gold Road Resources Ltd and DRDGold Ltd and he’s also held executive positions with international ‘Big Four’ accounting firms. Most recently Ian has been appointed as Executive Chairman of Matador Mining.
Ian is pleased to be joining the Miners’ Promise Board and brings with him a wealth of financial, corporate, project management and operational experience.
‘After more than two decades working in the resources industry, I was inspired by the work Miners’ Promise carries out in support of our hardworking resources sector employees. I aim to contribute with the Board to achieve even greater awareness of this loved and respected organisation and achieve the goal that all resources sector employees have access to Miners’ Promise services in their time of need and that no person feels alone or unsupported in times of crisis’, said Ian Murray.
A Chartered Accountant and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Ian holds an Executive degree in Advanced Management & Leadership from the University of Oxford, Saïd Business School.
The recipient of many awards during his leadership of Gold Road, Ian was presented with the Gavin Thomas award for leadership, the Diggers and Dealers Deal of the year award in 2017, the best emerging company award in 2011 as well as the CEO of the year award from CEO Magazine.
Established in 2010 and celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2020, Miners’ Promise is an independent not-for-profit organisation and registered charity here to assist employees working in the Australian resources sector and their immediate family when impacted by crisis.
