Since its inception in Western Australia on 9 June 1928, Perth Legacy and a sister club in WA, Fremantle Legacy, have continuously served the Legacy family, consisting of dependants of deceased veterans from both World Wars, Korea, Malaya, Borneo, Vietnam, the Gulf, those sent on all peacekeeping operations, and those resulting from Australia’s role in the War Against Terror.
Legacy has expanded its scope of welfare support to cover the dependants of Australian Defence Force members, both regular and reserve, killed on hazardous service or training for war, and on humanitarian missions.
Between 1953 and 2018 the Torchbearers for Legacy operated as a separate trust to fund the activities of Legacy in WA. In 2018 the Legacy Club and Torchbearers were merged into one entity.
