West to West Group’s Maintenance division continues to grow as tenants and owners move to protect and maintain their assets.
There’s nothing worse than not being able to find a reliable tradesperson. Especially when it’s an emergency.
That’s why having an on-going general maintenance contract will take away a lot of those headaches when issues need fixing in your commercial or industrial property.
Greg Hardie says more and more owners are looking to minimise risk and are now choosing to take preventative care of their assets first, rather than waiting for something to happen.
“People are opting for planned instead of reactive maintenance by having a general building maintenance contract in place with a dedicated full-time technician available during business hours and access to 24/7 maintenance,” says the General Manager Maintenance for the West to West Group. “This means they are protecting their assets and we are able to react quickly when needed.”
A client can access everything from minor project works through to painting, roofing and electrical works. The qualified maintenance team includes painters, roof plumbers, electricians, carpenters, glaziers, ceiling fixers and stonemasons.
West to West look after a number of key assets in the Perth CBD on behalf of top building owners in Australia. This includes having fulltime technicians working in several major city buildings as well as ongoing maintenance contracts in numerous other buildings around the metropolitan area.
Mr Hardie says building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and growing with them as they grow is important because it fosters loyalty and trust on both sides, leading to long-term sustainability. That helps clients feel connected to the company while allowing West to West to evolve and tailor their services accordingly. “We focus on organic growth through these relationships. It’s also one way we exceed the expectations of our clients.
“We also like our tradespeople to build relationships with our clients, so they become familiar with the sites we look after. For example, one of our clients has a series of strict sign-in protocols so having the same people come to their site makes entry faster and more efficient, we’re not wasting time and they see the same faces. It naturally builds trust and integrity between us.”
The company fleet comprises more than 100 live-tracked maintenance vehicles, making West to West one of the leading maintenance providers in Australia. Vehicle tracking ensures they can prioritise tasks during episodes which impact customers.
The Maintenance division is staffed by more than 100 qualified tradespeople and Operations Managers come from trade backgrounds, ensuring they are familiar with what’s needed.
Joining the electrical and painting division, the recent establishment of West to West’s roofing division allows the company to offer specialised roofing services, including condition survey reports, re-roofing and roof plumbing. This division reinforces a commitment to providing a comprehensive range of maintenance services and now enables them to address all aspects of a building’s upkeep.
A warehouse in Osborne Park is staffed by logistics personnel who handle the storage and management of materials, ensuring that projects are well-supported and parts are readily available. The company uses SimPro for its comprehensive project management features and streamlined operations. Leveraging a cloud platform ensures prompt responses to client needs and clients benefit from the improved communication and transparency throughout a project.
As burst pipes or roofing issues don’t strike during working hours, maintenance services are available around the clock. A team of schedulers use live vehicle tracking and a 24-hour manned email system to ensure they’re always ready to respond to maintenance issues.
Mr Hardie says having these strong and reliable connections with his clients are vital. Knowing they can make one phone call and his team moves to sort the problem fast gives clients peace of mind.
“I love that the relationship with our clients allows us to go above and beyond, which builds that long term relationship. We’re in it for the long term. We still work with some of our original clients who started with us 12 years ago.”
Maintenance is one of the company’s original divisions which has evolved to become a cornerstone of the company’s operations. The division started by focussing on delivering maintenance and minor project services across Western Australia – city and regional. Now they’re also looking after properties in Queensland.
West to West Group was founded in 2012 by owner and director Michael O’Sullivan and has more than 150 staff working nationally. Their combined skills in construction, fitout and maintenance allows them to offer clients a one stop, end-to-end solution which incorporates all stages of a project’s delivery cycle.
At the heart of the business is ensuring a positive experience for both clients and the associated subcontractor supply chain. West to West guiding principle is exceeding expectations, which drives them to deliver quality projects on time and within budget.
