Junior explorer King River Copper’s gold project at Mt Remarkable in the Kimberley region of W.A. could be just that – remarkable – if the latest drill results are anything to go by.
Located 200km southwest of Kununurra and 100km south of the port of Wyndham, the tenements are 30km inland from the Great Northern Highway. The project created excitement for shareholders some months ago towards the end of the drilling season with an 11m drill intercept grading a whopping 27.9g/t gold.
Assay results received in the past week have revealed fine visible gold in the latest holes at the eastern end of the current reverse circulation drilling grid on the Trudi Vein.
The first batch of results from a drilling program of 46 holes for 1,600m have returned multiple spectacularly high-grade gold intersections including a set of samples with visible gold.
Results from the best visible gold intercepts included 4m at a massive 113.3 g/t gold including 1m at an eye popping 11 ounces to the tonne gold.
Another solid visible gold result returned a 3m intersection at 34.8g/t gold including 1m at 50.5g/t gold.
Whilst the numbers are outstanding they are further enhanced by their relatively shallow nature.
The Perth-based explorer reported that the first batch of assay results confirmed multiple plunging high-grade shoots forming a core to the main Trudi mineralised zone.
Other exceptional grade results were 3m at 22.31g/t gold, including 1m at 65.90g/t gold, 3m at 9.84g/t gold including 1m at 14.70g/t and 6m at 4.01g/t gold including 1m at 15.65g/t gold.
The fine visible gold mineralisation was at the eastern end of the current drill grid, not far from an historical drill intersection of 4m at 15.06g/t gold forming what appears to be a narrow, high-grade shoot plunging to the east where historic drilling has been sparse.
Drilling results have extended the main Trudi vein system to a potential strike length of nearly 1km with mineralised intersections obtained 600m to the east and 100m to the west of the original historical drilling.
The current drill program is a close spaced reverse circulation grid aimed at 5m spacings to test and delineate the trend of high-grade gold mineralisation and identify other nearby high-grade shoots. The drilling is also designed to provide insight into mineralisation controls and assist with future targeting of high grade mineralisation on this and other veins.
King River discovered Mt Remarkable almost by accident, pegging it on a geological whim last year before encountering the first set of exceptional results.
King River’s focus has been on its world class vanadium/titanium play to the north of Mt Remarkable but with gold results like this, the company will have to quickly adopt a dual focus.
