Javelin Minerals has highlighted a slew of follow-up drill targets at its Husky project in NSW after receiving geochemically-elevated results for multiple minerals from a recent air-core program at the site.
The company has already commenced an RC drill campaign of 10 holes at the project to test the new geochemical features at depth.
Earlier this year, Javelin completed a shallow exploratory air-core drill program for a total of 955m, with positive results for gold, arsenic, zinc, antimony and cerium at its Wilmatha Road prospect, in addition to elevated levels of platinum, nickel, cobalt and lanthanum at its Old Burra target.
The Husky project’s exploration licence covers two strategic blocks within the Flemington and Owendale intrusive complexes that host mantle‐derived platinum mineralisation and are now also considered highly-prospective for rare earths and both precious and battery metals.
On the western block, Javelin completed 25 air-core holes for 115m along the Wilmatha Road verge as part of a shallow reconnaissance program that highlighted a potential gold-arsenic anomaly. Analysis shows results of up to 73 parts per billion gold in addition to 876 parts per million arsenic. The company also recorded geochemically-elevated rare earth levels of up to 418ppm cerium that will be followed up with RC drilling.
A total of 32 air-core holes were drilled on the eastern block across 840m with results showing elevated levels of platinum, nickel and cobalt in addition to rare earth assays of up to 204ppm lanthanum and 219ppm cerium.
Javelin Minerals executive director Matthew Blake said: “The aim of this RC programme is to investigate our recently identified aircore geochemical anomalism at vertical depths of 100 m to 120 m below the surface. Ten RC drill holes have been proposed, each of approximately 150 m depth and located at the Wilmatha Road and Old Burra localities where geochemically elevated precious, battery and rare earth metals require further evaluation.”
Previous mapping by the Geological Survey of NSW over the eastern tenement at Husky shows the apparent continuation of the Owendale intrusion in the southern portion of the company’s tenement. Javelin says the same ultramafic hosts the significant primary platinum-copper mineralisation discovered by Helix Resources in the late 1990s.
The southern portion of the Husky’s eastern block is also close to the historic Burra tin field that has hosted significant tin‐gold‐platinum mining. The western area of the operation sits south of the Tresylva Complex that has an historical association with copper and cobalt.
