Infinity Mining has picked up a new tenement to add to its East Pilbara mix that it says is prospective for both gold and VHMS-style mineralised systems. The new tenement is about 50km south of Marble Bar in WA, in a highly mineralised region. Infinity will own 100 per cent of the new ground after signing an agreement to buy it from private player Hawker Geological Services Pty Ltd. The new land will bolster Infinity’s landholdings at its Hillside project in the East Pilbara to nearly 400 square kilometres stretched across 5 tenement areas.
The five tenements are a laterally contiguous package that cover a N-S trend within the mineral-rich Archaean Coongan greenstone belt, with granite intrusions of the Corunna Downs Batholith and Shaw Batholith occurring to the east and west of the project respectively.
The area boasts an attractive commodity mix of base metals, gold and lithium with a flavour towards copper-hosted volcanic massive sulphide deposits like ‘Sulphur Springs’ and ‘Kangaroo Caves’, which are in the vicinity.
Previous rock chip sampling at Hillside identified a new Copper prospect with anomalous copper, molybdenum, gold and silver results fetching up to 0.45 per cent copper, 0.12 per cent molybdenum, 0.68 grams per tonne gold and 14 grams per tonne of Silver.
The company has now received all approvals for an upcoming maiden drill program at the Hillside project to target prospective nickel, copper and zinc targets. Anomalous targets have been selected from a helicopter-borne electromagnetic survey, with a total of nine selected from the mix for drill testing.
A field base in the area has now been established, with exploration set to kick off in the next few weeks.
Although the Company claims the mineralisation style needs more attention with the copper-molybdenum ‘combo’ - a keen eye also needs to be kept on the silver grades retrieved, given the commodity’s slow and steady creep upwards over the past year.
Infinity also boasts numerous granted tenements across four major projects in the East Pilbara region, which include: Panorama, Tambourah, Noreena Downs and Hillside; giving it a substantial exploration package of around 975 square kilometres in the highly prospective area. It additionally has three ungranted tenements that lie between Hillside and Tambourah. Tambourah has seen recent success off the back of a drilling campaign and a rock chip sampling program that threw up samples ranging from 1.9 to 3.7 per cent lithium oxide.
