Estrella Resources has received positive assay results showing multiple nickel intersections at the company’s T5 deposit, part of its wholly owned Carr Boyd project north-east of Kalgoorlie in WA’s Goldfields.
The company says the results show mineralisation plunges down and to the south with a clear opportunity at depth where the deposit remains open.
Assays show a 19.2m hit going 0.91 per cent nickel and 0.44 per cent copper from 500m including a 7.58m intercept at a solid 1.55 per cent nickel.
Estrella also recorded a 17.1m section at 0.71 per cent nickel and 0.3 per cent copper from 388m including 0.9m reading 2.14 per cent nickel.
A third 13.2m hit returned results of 0.62 per cent nickel and 0.36 per cent copper from 472.3m including a 1m intersection going 1.11 per cent nickel.
The fourth assay showed a 10.2m section reading 0.67 per cent nickel and 0.35 per cent copper from 560m including a 2.9m hit at 1.36 per cent nickel.
Estrella says the latest assays give the company a better understanding of the effects of the Proterozoic Dyke on the T5 mineralisation and has led to new southern targets at the site.
Estrella Resources Managing Director, Chris Daws said: “This solid round of assay results for the T5 Southern step-out drilling is further improving our understanding the effects of the Proterozoic Dyke on T5 mineralisation to the south.”
The company has recently completed additional drilling that targeted a down-plunge position to the south of the Proterozoic Dyke and successfully continued the mineralisation at T5.
Once the company receives results from its latest drilling it will continue exploration to the north and south of the deposit.
In the meantime it will focus its drilling on the company’s Gossan Hill and Broonhill prospects.
The Carr Boyd nickel mine was discovered in the late 1960s by Great Boulder Mines and operated by Western Mining Corporation between 1973 and 1977.
After repeatedly changing hands for the next 40 years the site was acquired by Estrella in 2017.
Just last month the company extended its T5 deposit by 300m south after step-out diamond drilling hit semi-massive nickel-copper sulphides.
Earlier this week Estrella received positive assay results and the bonus of additional key infrastructure as the company moves towards production at its Spargoville nickel project near Kambalda in WA’s Goldfields.
Following the completion of the nearby Goldfields-Esperance Highway upgrade, the Department of Main Roads has handed over control of key infrastructure including a one-million-litre lined and fenced dam at the Andrews Mine and a cleared five-acre pad at the 5B nickel mine.
