Emu NL has unearthed a new high-grade gold discovery at the Watertank Hill gold prospect within its Badja project, located near Yalgoo in WA.
The company says the new discovery may represent a potential southern extension to its nearby Monte Cristo prospect. Significant gold hits at Watertank Hill include a 2 metre intersection grading 9.94 grams per tonne gold from 51m downhole that hosts a 1m section grading a stellar 19.35 g/t gold from 51m.
Other significant drill hits at the new Watertank Hill discovery include a 2m section that came in at 3.77 g/t gold from 51m including a 1m intersection going 6.01 g/t gold in addition.
Another 6m intersection came up at 1.12 g/t gold from 29m.
The Watertank Hill prospect sits in a structural flexure of the northwest trending Yalgoo Greenstone Belt that has numerous historical workings within the immediate area. Watertank Hill was bookmarked as a tier-one structural and geochemical regional target by Emu consultants and the latest set of numbers appear to give the prospect a backbone and support further investigation.
Emu said mineralisation noted at Watertank Hill indicates the gold-bearing structures are most likely a strike continuation of the veining found at the southern end of its Monte Cristo prospect to the north, opening a significant untested zone between the two prospects. Follow up drilling of the area has become a high priority for the company.
Further high-grade mineralisation was intersected in the latest campaign at the Monte Cristo prospect too. Noteworthy hits include 4m at a serious 9.74 g/t gold from 32m, 4m grading 3.02 g/t gold from 100m and 7m at 2.18 g/t gold from 173m down-hole.
The results come off the back of the second stage of RC drilling at the Badja project that consisted of 6,831m and was designed to further explore the area following the success achieved during stage 1 drilling.
Recent drill results have extended the strike and depth extent of the two parallel lodes at Monte Cristo where the structurally controlled mineralisation pinches and swells along strike and down dip.
Emu said the level of understanding and prospectivity of Monte Carlo has increased as a result of the latest round of drilling and that several anomalous composite samples are pending resampling on an individual 1m basis.
With the addition of a new high-grade gold prospect just spitting distance from the existing Monte Carlo prospect that itself looks to be no slouch, Emu will no doubt be looking to answer the question of what’s in between in the coming months.
