ClearVue Technologies has signed a Letter of Intent with Beijing Jinmao Green Building Technology Co. Ltd, to market and distribute its smart solar window glass panels in mainland China. The two companies will complete a trial construction project first by deploying ClearVue’s energy generating window panels ahead of negotiating a formal, possibly exclusive, distribution arrangement.
Jinmao Green Building is wholly owned by Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed China Jinmao Holdings Group Limited, a subsidiary of the giant Chinese petrochemicals company, Sinochem Group Co. Ltd that generated over 500 billion yuan in revenue last year, according to the Nikkei Asian Review.
ClearVue said Jinmao Green Building provides green building and other environmental expertise and technical support to its parent company including work to ensure construction projects undertaken by the China Jinmao are in compliance with construction and environmental laws and regulations imposed by the PRC government.
ClearVue operates in the Building Integrated Photovoltaic sector which involves the integration of solar technology into glass and building surfaces, specifically windows and building facades, that are able to generate energy from the sun’s rays.
It has developed advanced glass technology that aims to preserve transparency to maintain building aesthetics whilst generating electricity and its technology can also be integrated with other smart building applications.
Subject to the nuances of the current COVID-19 world, the company said it expects to have the trial project completed in the third quarter of 2020 and the formal, exclusive distribution agreement negotiated by year-end.

Commenting on the Letter of Intent, the Chief Technology Officer & Dean of Smart Energy Research Institute of Beijing Jinmao Green Building Technology Co. Ltd, Dr Chao Zhang said: “We are very much looking forward to working with ClearVue, initially to completing our initial trial and then to exploring how we can introduce the ClearVue product into green building projects in the Mainland China market. Everything that sells well in China produces sales numbers that are off the scale due to the sheer size of the population and the ongoing industrialisation of the country.
With apartment complexes that can sometimes be a kilometre long, the Chinse building market is quite extraordinary and if CleaVue can lock down even a small fraction of it, then it will be a case of glasses down for the Perth based technologist.
