WA’s longest running and most popular careers events will be the biggest it’s ever been this year and has launched its own app to improve and streamline its visitors’ experience.
The expo focuses on education, training, employment, and hosts over 100 local and national organisations, including all of WA’s major universities as well as some from the east coast. Visitors can also engage with vocational and professional training providers, industry associations and employers.
Held annually, more than 11,000 visitors are expected over the four-day event, including years 9-12 school student groups who will benefit from its variety of future career options, and those looking to, upskill, change career or transition into new employment opportunities.
Keen2Connect CEO and event organiser Nigel Keen said he was excited for this year’s event with so many new additions improving the visitor experience.
“It’s an opportunity for exhibitors to connect with visitors and importantly, provide a platform that offers access to further education, training and employment that addresses the skills shortages through delivery of a new adult campaign,” he said.
“One of the greatest benefits is the new event app, that launched today, available to anyone to download on iOS or android devices and will continue to be accessible throughout the year to visitors who attended the event, regardless if they live locally or regionally.”
Mr Keen said the app would enable visitors to browse the expo, connect with exhibitors, qualify their suitability, and research their preferred options.
“It’s a great time-saver so people can plan the event experience and get the greatest possible value from their attendance, all before arriving,” he said.
Mr Keen said the event’s footprint had increased by 50 per cent this year with newcomers including Tourism, RAC Arena, Optus Stadium, Screenwest, Public Transport Authority and Civil Aviation Academy as these organisations like others understand the power of live events. They know the benefit of making face to face connections help achieve their immediate goals and serve their wider objectives.
A new partnership with Zero2Hero supporting youth mental health will also deliver live insights on the new Future-You Knowledge Stage and will host various speakers from topics about jobs of the future to critical work-life balance.
Careers Expo is free to visitors and will be held at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on Level 1 in Pavilions 4 & 5 between Thursday 16 May – Sunday 19 May. It’s open from 9am on Thursday and Friday and from 10am on Saturday and Sunday.
