CZR appoints new MD to drive iron ore play

ASX-listed aspiring iron ore and gold developer, CZR Resources has appointed experienced geologist Stefan Murphy as its new Managing Director.

Murphy previously held a number of technical and commercial roles during his two-decade career, working across mining and exploration projects and professional services firms.

Most recently he led the development and commissioning of Nathan River Resources’ Roper Bar iron ore mine in the Northern Territory having cut his teeth as a Mine Geologist with BHP iron ore before pivoting to an Associate Director role with multinational firm PWC.

He also occupied several other commercial roles including at RFC Ambrian where he led the company’s corporate financial advisory services as an Executive Director and at ASX-listed Great Boulder Resources he was responsible for a handful of gold projects in the mineral-rich Eastern Goldfields.

The immediate focus for the new Managing Director will be iron ore and gold development in the Pilbara and CZR’s Buddadoo gold deposit east of Geraldton in the revered Yilgarn craton.

CZR’s cornerstone Robe Mesa iron ore deposit covers an area that borders iron ore juggernaught Rio Tinto’s Warramboo, Mesa A and Mesa J-K mines that export some 34 million tonnes of iron ore annually. The deposit forms a key part of CZR’s Yarraloola Project that sits around 140 kilometres southwest of Karratha.

Ore reserves at the deposit stand at around 8.2 million tonnes at 56 per cent iron for a total resource of 84.5 million tonnes at 53.8 per cent iron.
