Mineral explorer Aurumin’s winning run continues from diamond drilling at its Central Sandstone project 130km west of Leinster in WA as the company seeks to extend the mineral resource at the site.
The final assay from the program returned a 242.7m intersection going 1.2 grams per tonne gold from 203.1m including an 8.3m at 4.82 g/t gold from 214.2m. The campaign sought to test the northern section of the project’s Two Mile Hill deposit.
A deeper 47.3m intercept from the same hole recorded 2.06 g/t gold from 362m including a 2.9m hit at 9.27 g/t from 393m in addition to a 5.1m section going 7.83 g/t gold from 400.7m.
Two Mile Hill currently has a mineral resource estimate of 14.2 million tonnes at 1.1 g/t for a total of 500,000 ounces of gold.
The latest assay continues an impressive run of broad intercepts from the four-hole campaign that produced drill results of a 344m section going 1.28 g/t gold from 233.3m, a second hole recording a whopping 352.8m hit at 1.5 g/t from 267.2m and a third 224m intersection reading 1.48 g/t gold from 229.6m.
In addition to the latest diamond drill results, Aurumin has also received positive results from RC pre-collar samples collected during the recent campaign east of the company’s Two Mile Hill deposit.
Sample highlights include a 2m section at 2.78 g/t gold from 93m, a 2m intercept going 5.05 g/t from 79m and a 5m hit recording a solid 7.29 g/t gold from 80m that stopped within a section of mineralisation.
Aurumin Managing Director, Brad Valiukas said: “This is another good result and, along with the previously released diamond results, continues to add to the picture at Two Mile Hill. Along with the recently completed RC drilling at Shillington, this sets us up to now model the Shillington and Two Mile Hill deposits as a single geological complex, with known grade in the banded iron formation, mafic and tonalite.”
The final diamond drilling results build on a recent nine-hole 1245m RC program that returned assays including 7m going 5.78 grams per tonne gold from 137m downhole and 8m at 4.99 g/t gold from 80m.
Aurumin says the results of the RC campaign indicate a continuity of gold between the project’s Shillington and Two Mile Hill deposits.
Whilst Two Mile Hill is the most significant of Central Sandstone’s gold resources, Shillington hosts a solid deposit that currently adds a further 66,000 ounces to the overall site.
Aurumin says it has now started working on an updated resource model for the Central Sandstone project in addition to plans for more drilling.
With a successful run of four broad diamond drill results hitting gold mineralisation, the market will be keeping a close eye on the next set of figures Aurumin reveals at Central Sandstone.
