Tim Shanahan, an experienced company director, was the founding director of the Energy and Minerals Institute at The University of Western Australia.
Mr Shanahan spent ten years as executive director of the WA Municipal Association where he established the local government self insurance schemes, followed by his appointment as chief executive of the WA Chamber of Minerals and Energy, and completed his term as president of the RAC WA. He is chair of the Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre during its bid phase and the implementation phase.
Mr Shanahan was honoured with a Public Service Medal in 2001 and a Centenary Medal in 2003.
