Susan (Sue) Murphy AO is a prominent engineer and company director with over 40 years of experience in the resources and infrastructure industries.
She joined the Water Corporation in 2004 and was chief executive for a decade from November 2008. Prior to that, Ms Murphy had a 25-year career with the Clough Group and was the company’s first female director and chief executive of its minerals and infrastructure division.
In 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012, Ms Murphy was listed in the top 100 most influential engineers in Australia by Engineers Australia. In 2013, she was awarded Australia’s top civil engineer. She was also recognised for her work in water infrastructure with the International Water Association’s 2014 Women in Water award, and was the 2018/19 West Australian Business Leader of the Year at the AIM WA Pinnacle Awards.
In 2019, Ms Murphy was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the natural resources sector in Western Australia, and to engineering.
