John B (Sam) Gannon OAM had over 40 years of experience in the wealth management industry and was chief executive of Gannon Growden Schonell group of companies, a specialist financial advice and wealth management firm based in Perth, which became a subsidiary of Shadforth in 2008, which in turn became part of listed group SFG Australia.

Mr Gannon was an Australian cricketer who played in three Test matches during the 1977/78 season. He was chair of the Western Australian Cricket Association, and had served on the board for over a decade.

In 2017, Mr Gannon was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to cricket.

Mr Gannon passed away in early February 2021.
