Dr Ross Waring has over 25 years of experience in technology commercialisation within the oil and gas, mineral resources, petrochemicals, power generation and renewable energy sectors.
In February 2023, Dr Waring was appointed the director of Curtin University-led Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Trailblazer hub, a national initiative that aims to transform mineral research outputs into commercial products and services. The Trailblazer project is a collaboration between Curtin University, The University of Queensland, James Cook University and 33 company partners across Australia who are working in value chains associated with lithium, nickel, cobalt, vanadium and hydrogen resources.
Prior to that, Dr Waring was an industry advisor for Yokogawa Australia and New Zealand, a provider of industrial automation into a wide range of industries including power generation, food processing, mining, oil, gas and renewable energy; and spent over 10 years as managing director of Proxima Consulting, a commercialisation consultancy specialising in design, R&D and product development within cleantech, precision agriculture and innovative resource technologies.
He has also been chair of the Centre of Decommissioning Australia, Subsea Innovation Cluster Australia, Ecocentric Energy, and marine science consultancy Geo Oceans.
