A lawyer by profession, Robert Seidler AM has extensive experience as a non-executive director in the banking, property, funds management and construction industries and has served on several Federal and State Government Committees. He has worked in Asia for more than 40 years with extensive commercial experience in Japan and Australia. While living in Japan, Mr Seidler was appointed to the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry Import Board representing Australia and New Zealand, and was a member of the Australian Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee. He is a board member of CIMIC Group (formerly Leighton Holdings), vice president of the Australia-Japan Business Co-Operation Committee, a member of the NSW Government's Export and Investment Advisory Panel, and chair of Hunter Phillip Japan. Mr Seidler retired as chair of Leighton Asia, Leighton Properties and as a member of the Federal Government's Corporations and Markets Advisory Committee. In 2011, Mr Seidler was made a member of the General Division of the Order of Australia for services to the international business community for development of Australia-Japan bilateral commercial relations and the generation of new business opportunities. In 2016, he received the Order of the Rising Sun Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, presented by the Emperor of Japan in recognition of his contribution to strengthening economic relations between Japan and Australia.
