Foundation set for Stone Ridge
Venture capital managers Rob Newman and Matt Callahan have completed a major restructuring and expansion of their Perth business, which has about $60 million under management.
Dr Rob Newman has established a unique track record as a successful Australian high technology entrepreneur in Australia and Silicon Valley.
He has twice founded and built businesses based on Australian technology and both times successfully entered overseas markets. One of those companies, Atmosphere Networks, was established by Dr Newman with US Venture Capital backing of US$34M and he ran it until it was acquired for US$123M.
Dr Newman is a venture capitalist and co-founder of Stone Ridge Ventures. He was previously an investment director of Foundation Capital.
Dr Newman was a co-founder of QPSX Communications and inventor of the technology which it sold to global telcos. He was also a founder of Pointerra and heavily involved with Nearmap, with both listed companies in the geospatial field.
