Professor Peter Leedman AO graduated in Medicine from The University of Western Australia in 1981 and then undertook specialist training in Endocrinology. He completed PhD studies at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research in 1991 and undertook post-doctoral studies at Harvard Medical School.
He returned to Australia in 1994 as a senior lecturer in Medicine based at Royal Perth Hospital. In 2003, he was appointed as Professor of Medicine and Deputy Director of WAIMR as well as Director of Research at Royal Perth Hospital.
Prof Leedman’s laboratory studies hormones and how they act in breast and prostate cancer.
In 2021, Prof Leedman was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to medicine, health and medical research as a physician scientist, to professional societies, and to tertiary education.
