Paul Thomas is a qualified metallurgist and was appointed chief operating officer of Capricorn Metals in September 2019. Prior to that, he was chief operating officer of Regis Resources for over 5 years and was part of the management team of ASX-listed OM Holdings. From 2007 to 2010, Mr Thomas was managing director of the operating subsidiary OM Manganese, with responsibility for the Australian operations including the Bootu Creek manganese mining operation. He was also instrumental in the turnaround of the company’s Australian operations and oversaw the significant expansion of the production capacity and resource base. From 2010 to 2014, he was the OMH Group's chief development officer where he headed the execution of the development of the company’s ferro-alloy smelting project in Malaysia. Mr Thomas was a non-executive director of ASX-listed iron ore, precious and base metals explorer Scandinavian Resources from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, he held several general manager roles at gold mining operations for Equigold NL (1996-2005) and Mount Eden Gold Mines (1995-1996), and as chief operating officer of Wedgetail Mining (2005-2007).
