Image Resources has mapped out a swathe of ultra high-grade heavy mineral sands for a further 1.4km northwards at its Boonanarring mineral sands project near Perth. The company has completed infill drilling across all proposed mining blocks at the operation and with all assay results expected soon, it is aiming to complete a full update of the mineral resources and ore reserves for the project in the December quarter.

Despite a drop in the zircon price earlier this year, the value of Image Resources’ zircon-rich heavy mineral sands concentrate from its Boonanarring operation in WA has not been diminished as offtake partners continue to pay a premium for its product. The company, which has enjoyed a stellar run since production started at the mine last December, is now looking at new ways to add value to its mineral sands ore body.

Image Resources has added another dimension to its zircon-rich Boonanarring mineral sands mine in WA after it significantly boosted the heavy minerals grade at the project, capping off an uber-successful year for the Perth miner. Recent work has seen the grade jump from 7.2% to 8.9% and the company also increased both the project’s zircon content from 22.7% to 27.5% and its in-situ zircon grade from 1.6% to 2.4%.
