Patrick Churnside is a traditional owner from the Ngarluma and Yindjibarndi Language Groups. He is also chair of the Ngarluma Aboriginal Corporation, and was previously a Ngarluma representative on the board of directors for the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation.
