Neil Warburton

Non-Executive Chair / Norcliffe Mining Services

Most Notable Role

Neil Warburton has worked within the mining industry throughout his entire career in roles ranging from corporate non executive directorships to managing large mining and contracting companies. This experience covers gold and base metal mining.

Until March 2012 Mr Warburton was the chief executive of Barminco, one of Australia's largest underground mining contractors where he successfully guided and grew the company both within Australia and Africa with revenues having more than doubled during his tenure. Before joining Barminco, he was managing director of Coolgardie Gold. Mr Warburton was also executive chair and acting chief executive of ASX-listed Red Mountain Mining.

Mr Warburton was awarded the GJ Stokes Memorial award at the 2023 Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum. The award recognises someone who has made a significant and lasting contribution to the mining industry.

He graduated from the Western Australian School of Mines with an Associate Degree in Mining Engineering, is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and Fellow of the Australlian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

Coolgardie Minerals floats and starts mining
Coolgardie Minerals has commenced open pit mining at its flagship Geko gold project near Coolgardie in the Goldfields region of W.A. The company listed on the ASX this week after it closed out an over-subscribed IPO in July, that put over $4m in its coffers. It will now look to create an early cash flow position from the mine by investigating toll treating options.

Coolgardie Minerals targets more Geko gold
Coolgardie Minerals has kicked off a near-mine exploration drilling program at its operating Geko gold mine near Coolgardie in WA, with the aim of extending mineral resources beyond the limits of the existing open pit. The work will target areas east and west of the open pit at depth and also along strike west of a high-grade supergene oxide pod of gold mineralisation noted from earlier grade control drilling.
