Michael Gollschewski has over 35 years of experience in the resources sector as an executive, senior leader and engineer in operations and major projects within Australia and internationally.
Mr Gollschewski has been chief operating officer of minerals, energy & technology at NRW Holdings since February 2023, and managing director of its subsidiary Primero Group since May 2023. Prior to that, he was the president of Alcoa of Australia and vice president Australian Operations of the US-based parent company from November 2019 to November 2022, having re-joined the company in July 2018 as vice president of operations for its bauxite division. Mr Gollschewski worked for Alcoa between 1992 and 2007 before a 10-year stint with Rio Tinto including as managing director of its Pilbara mines. He joined Rio Tinto in 2007, initially as general manager of mining & infrastructure projects before taking charge of the Greater Brockman operations.
Prior to Rio and Alcoa, Mr Gollschewski held a wide range of engineering, supervisory, management and project roles at Queensland Alumina and CSR after graduating from Queensland University of Technology with honours in Mechanical Engineering.
He also holds a Masters of Business Administration from Curtin University, and is a director of the Australian Institute of Management WA and member of CEDA’s WA advisory council.
