Michael Fotios is a geologist, specialising in economic geology with extensive experience in exploration throughout Australia. He is also widely regarded as a lithium industry pioneer, having been one of the first Australian mining executives to identify the potential of the battery minerals sector. Mr Fotios has an extensive and successful track record of taking projects from discovery through to development and production.
Mr Fotios was the chair of private investment syndicate InvestMet until his resignation in 2019. He was a former director of companies including Redbank Copper, Eastern Goldfields, Northern Star Resources, General Mining Corporation, Galaxy Resources, Pegasus Metals, Horseshoe Metals, and Swan Gold Mining. Mr Fotios was managing director of Tantalum Australia (now ABM Resources) and had held positions at Homestake Australia and Sons of Gwalia.
Mr Fotios was declared bankrupt in 2019 following the outcome of his legal battles with the ATO.
In June 2023, he became the chief executive of Scorpion Minerals.
