Mellisa Teede became chief executive of the South West Development Commission in October 2019. She has more than 25 years of experience in the public sector, including in senior leadership roles within education, training and regional development. Ms Teede was chief executive of the Peel Development Commission from 2012 to 2015, acting managing director at the Goldfields Institute of Technology (formerly Vocational Education and Training, Goldfields Esperance), and held acting director roles in the Policy Planning and Innovation Directorate & the Department of Training and Workforce Development. She was also the Labor candidate for the seat of Canning in the 2019 federal election.
