Matthew Beem has over two decades of experience in the financial sector within Latin America, holding a wide array of positions throughout wealth management, investment advisory, and corporate finance including as chief executive, chief investment officer and portfolio manager.
Mr Beem was appointed a non-executive director of Xantippe Resources in June 2023, with specific responsibility as director of finance and administration for Latin America. He then transitioned to an executive director in August 2023 as the company focuses on its projects in the region. Mr Beem was previously the country head and chief executive for Uruguay at the EFG Bank Rep Offices in Montevideo and Punta del Este. Mr Beem began his career in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the think tank “Fundacion Mediterranea”, founded by the former Argentine finance minister Domingo Cavallo. During his two-year tenure, he covered the Brazilian economy, was on a team commissioned by the World Bank to compare the Brazilian devaluation of 1999 with the Argentine crisis of 2002, and wrote analysis of the Brazilian presidential transition of 2002 for both South American and US-based publications.
Mr Beem is a Chartered Financial Analyst with a Bachelors degree in Economics from Trinity University, a Masters degree in Economics & Latin American Policy Studies from Stanford University, and a Masters degree in Geosciences from Mississippi State University.
