Mark Mitchell is a chemical engineer with an extensive technical background and over 20 years of experience in senior management and operational roles at major mining operations across Australia, Africa and Papua New Guinea. He also has experience working with various mineral commodities including nickel, copper, gold and lithium.
Mr Mitchell was the executive general manager of Mineral Resources’ Wodgina lithium mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, where he oversaw the transition from construction to commissioning and operations of the Wodgina hard-rock lithium mine and concentrator. Prior roles included vice president of operations at the world-scale Ambatovy nickel laterite operation in Madagascar, with overall responsibility for all aspects of the mining, processing, rail transport and port operations; and senior corporate & general manager roles with Newcrest Mining at the Telfer mine in the Pilbara and the Hidden Valley gold operation in Papua New Guinea.
