Dr Larry Marshall is a highly experienced scientist, investor and business leader.
Dr Marshall was chief executive of Australia's national science agency CSIRO from January 2015 to June 2023, making him the agency’s longest serving CEO in 50 years. He led a transformation that resulted in the CSIRO’s first period of growth in three decades, significantly increasing the value delivered to stakeholders while seeing it named one of the Thomson Reuters Top 25 Global Innovators. Prior to joining the CSIRO, Dr Marshall co-founded and led a number of biotech and venture capital companies and has served on the boards of numerous high-tech companies operating in the US, Australia and China.
Dr Marshall is chair of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), a board member of the Governing Council of the Australian National University, an advisor for the Australian Government’s Circular Economy Ministerial Advisory Group, and a committee member of the COVID-19 Vaccines and Treatments for Australia – Science and Industry Technical Advisory Group which provides advice to the Australian Government on the purchasing and manufacturing of COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.
