Julie Bishop is non-executive chair of Telethon Kids Institute and the first woman to become Chancellor of the Australian National University in January 2020. She will also join the board of the international Human Vaccines Project, a partnership between the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation and Telethon Kids Institute. Ms Bishop was a senior national political figure, representing the Liberal Party in the seat of Curtin in Western Australia. She was deputy leader of the federal Liberal Party from 2007-2018 and the country's 38th Foreign Minister from 2013-2018. Ms Bishop retired from politics in April 2019. She holds a Bachelor of Law and has completed the advanced management program for senior managers at Harvard Business School. Ms Bishop was a partner of law firms, Clayton Utz and Mangan Ey & Bishop. She held several positions including as chair of the WA Town Planning Appeals Tribunal, member of Murdoch University Senate, director of SBS (TV & Radio), and board member of the Committee for Economic Development Australia (CEDA).
