Public servant Peacock dispute settled
A three-year fight to recover up to $500,000 from a corrupt WA public servant in Japan has finally been resolved.
John Quigley is the Labor Party Member of the Western Australia Legislative Assembly for Butler.
He became Western Australia's Attorney General in the McGowan government following Labor's win in the 2017 state election. Following the 2021 state election, Mr Quigley picked up the Electoral Affairs portfolio and relinquished the Commerce portfolio which he took on in 2019.
Following the resignation of Mr McGowan in June 2023, Mr Quigley kept the same portfolios as Western Australia's Attorney General and the Minister for Electoral Affairs under the Cook government. He has indicated his intention to retire at the 2025 state election.
Prior to entering politics in 2001, Mr Quigley was the lawyer for the Western Australian Police Union for 20 years.
