John Hodder is a geologist with extensive experience in generating and arranging private equity and debt deals, with a focus on mining within developing countries especially Africa. He has also sat on a number of listed and private boards.
Mr Hodder spent ten years in the mining and oil & gas industries. He established the Commonwealth Development Corporation's mining, oil and gas investment department in 1995 and was responsible for its investment activities for eight years. He was director of a number of junior mining companies and has significant experience of operating and investing in Africa. Mr Hodder also worked at Suncorp and Solaris as a fund manager, focusing on the resources sector and managing an index-linked natural resource portfolio of approximately AUD$1.25bn.
Since April 2014 Mr Hodder has been a founding principal of Tembo Capital, a mining private equity fund specialising in African and emerging markets.
Mr Hodder holds a Bachelor of Science in Geological Sciences and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance & Commerce from the University of Queensland, and an MBA from London Business School.
