Delivering the Karijini experience
A Pilbara not for profit is using the Karijini Experience to boost its social enterprise arm, while shunning sponsorship from mining companies.
James Jarvis grew up in regional Western Australia. After completing a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours in Psychology), he returned regularly to the regions and has worked in the Kimberley, Pilbara, Murchison and Wheatbelt.
Mr Jarvis spent 21 years working for a variety of state government agencies in Western Australia and Northern Territory before a shift to the not-for-profit sector. Prior to becoming the community development manager at the Shire of Donnybrook Balingup in January 2020, he was chief executive of The Nintirri Centre for over 3 years. He is also chair of Pilbara for Purpose (an association of Pilbara-based NGO’s), secretary of the Tom Price Men’s Shed committee and the Pilbara Inland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and board member of Linkwest.
