Australia Day awardsWesfarmers chief executive Richard Goyder leads a list of distinguished Western Australian business and arts figures recognised in the annual Australia Day honours.
Gianfranco (Frank) Tomasi AM is a non-executive director of Southern Cross Electrical Engineering, having founded the company in 1978 and was chair until his retirement from that role in March 2011. He remained on the board as a non-executive director until October 2018. Prior to founding SCEE, Mr Tomasi worked at Transfield (WA) for ten years, serving as national electrical manager from 1971 to 1978. The Tomasi family owns the Oceans Estate winery in Margaret River. Mr Tomasi sponsors the Willetton Seniors Basketball team.

Half of the board of Southern Cross Electrical Engineering has walked off the job, including chairman John Cooper, after it flagged a change in direction, a number of redundancies and cost-saving initiatives in response to the tough climate for local contractors.

88 Energy has announced the sudden passing of non-executive director Brent Villemarette. Mr Villemarette served on the board since 2010 and had been through several tumultuous periods with the company. He was credited as a key figure in the successful rebirth of the company.
