UWA Business School remains one of Australia's leading business institutions
The UWA Business School has been ranked 1st in Western Australia and 4th in Australia (AFR BOSS Best Business Schools ranking 2023)
Diane Smith-Gander AO is a prominent business executive, company director and advocate for gender equality and equal opportunity in the workplace. She has over 11 years of experience as a banking executive which culminated in her appointment as the head of Westpac's business & technology solutions and services division.
Ms Smith-Gander is an adjunct professor in corporate governance and a member of the UWA Business School advisory board. In 2019, she became the first woman to chair the UWA Business School Board.
She was a former state basketball player and served as chair of Basketball Australia, the Australian Sports Drug Agency and the NBL Commission of Basketball Australia.
Ms Smith-Gander has held a range of governance positions including as commissioner of Tourism WA, non-executive director of CBH Group, and deputy chair of NBN Co. In 2017, she received the Governance Institute of Australia President's Award for exceptional service.
In 2019, Ms Smith-Gander was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in recognition of her distinguished service to business, to women's engagement in executive roles, to gender equality, and to the community.
