Dr Debra Cousins has extensive experience working at the interface of government, universities and industry in agriculture and food, public health and other sectors. She also has experience working in biosecurity and regulation, including at the national level.
Dr Cousins held executive leadership roles in the Australian Biosecurity Cooperative Research Centre, and in the public sector within WA and Victoria. She has international experience providing advice to the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organisation and the World Organisation for Animal Health.
Dr Cousins holds a PhD in Microbiology and has almost 100 publications in international journals. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
