Cobus Malherbe is a chartered chemical engineer with over 20 years of international engineering and team management experience within the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors.
Mr Malherbe provided professional services to Santos as an engineering superintendent, tasked with management of front-line technical, engineering and reliability services to the Moomba Gas Plant in South Australia, being one of Australia’s largest natural gas and oil processing facilities. He was also a staff level process engineer, providing concept development and engineering services for both Greenfield and Brownfield projects, from Pre-Feasibility through to Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Design support. Prior to Santos, Mr Malherbe was with Linc Energy in technical superintendent and operations superintendent roles and was heavily involved in the Gas to Liquids (GTL) research and development, technology selection, design, commissioning and successful operations of their world first Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) and GTL demonstration facility. He was also a senior process engineer, with expertise in GTL catalysis research and development, process development, scale-up and commercial implementation with Sasol, a global leader in GTL technology.
Mr Malherbe is registered with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland, and holds a Masters in Chemical Engineering.
