Australia Post watch scandal ensnares CEO
Luxury watches worth $12,000 could spell time's up for Australia Post chief executive Christine Holgate, who has sensationally stood down over a gift scandal.
Christine Holgate has more than 30 years of diverse international leadership experience in highly regulated industries including healthcare, media, telecommunications and finance. She also has more than 20 years of public board experience as a non-executive director or chief executive, and has held senior management positions in Asia, America and Australia.
Ms Holgate joined Australia Post as its first female group chief executive and managing director on 30 October 2017, after nearly 9 years as the chief executive of Blackmores. She was stood down from the job in October 2020 pending an investigation into the purchase of four Cartier watches totalling $19950 as rewards for senior staff members. Ms Holgate resigned from the company in November 2020.
Ms Holgate is the inaugural chair of the Australia-ASEAN Council which supports the development of trade and cultural relations between Australia and the 10 member countries of the ASEAN region. She also serves on the board of the Collingwood Football Club, and was non-executive director of Ten Network Holdings.
