Ben Wyatt was a highly-regarded politician and senior government minister who has successfully transitioned to a new career at the top tier of business.
Mr Wyatt was the State Treasurer and Labor Party Member of the Western Australia Legislative Assembly for Victoria Park. After Labor's state election win in March 2017, he became Treasurer and Minister for Finance, Energy and Aboriginal Affairs. He was the first Indigenous treasurer of any Australian parliament. In opposition, Mr Wyatt was the Shadow Treasurer, Shadow Minister for Aboriginal Affairs; Native Title; Kimberley; Pilbara; Cost of Living. Mr Wyatt retired from politics at the 2021 state election.
He was a lawyer prior to entering politics, and has since established consulting firm Wyatt Martin in 2021 with his former chief of staff Roger Martin.
Post-politics, Mr Wyatt has taken up board roles at West Coast Eagles, Telethon Kids Institute, Woodside, Rio Tinto, and Perth Festival.
Mr Wyatt holds a Law degree from the University of Western Australia, and attended the London School of Economics on a scholarship.
