Andrew Hammond served as a City of Perth commissioner since March 2018 and was appointed chair in August 2019. His term ended in October 2020 with the appointment of Basil Zempilas as Lord Mayor.
Mr Hammond has extensive experience as a chief executive officer, having held the position with City of Albany from 1999 to 2008 and City of Rockingham from 2008 to 2018; as well as with Albany, Wyndham East Kimberley and Nannup after commencing his career in Manjimup. Prior to his local government career, Mr Hammond worked in the retail banking sector in South Australia.
He was a non-executive director at the Institute of Business and Technology Australia, and holds an Executive MBA in Administration from the University of Western Australia; a Diploma of Local Government; and is a Fellow of Local Government Managers Australia, the Institute of Management and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
In 2012, Mr Hammond was awarded the inaugural Institute of Public Administration WA Local Government Leader of the Year. In 2013, he received the LGMA Medal for Services to the Local Government profession.
