Yara Pilbara Holdings is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Norway's Yara International. It owns 100% of Yara Pilbara Fertilisers Pty Ltd (formerly known as Burrup Fertilisers) which operates an ammonia plant located near Karratha on the Burrup Peninsula. The plant is one of the world's largest ammonia production facilities, with an annual production capability of approximately 850,000 metric tons.
Yara and explosives company Orica jointly own an associated company, Yara Pilbara Nitrates, which in mid 2016 completed construction of a neighbouring technical ammonium nitrate (TAN) plant.
