Shellabears is one of the longest running family-based real estate agencies in Perth that is still operated by the founding family. Whilst forging new business relationships, the company still handles the property affairs of clients introduced by previous generations and prides itself on providing the same high level of service to longstanding and new clients alike.
Founded by Samuel Albert Shellabear in 1925, and originally based at 68 St Georges Terrace in Perth in the 1960s, the firm moved to 14 Pier Street with Samuel's youngest son Ian Langdon Shellabear assuming control in 1969. In the late 1970s the head office moved to Nedlands, and in 1979 Ian was joined at Shellabear & Son by his eldest son Christopher who is now the Principal of the company.
From the 1980s, Shellabears chose to focus on residential sales and leasing in the western suburbs in order to deliver the highest level of service to the area where the Shellabears family had lived for so many years. The firm relocated to 575 Stirling Highway in Cottesloe in 2014, a prominent location near the Jarrad Street intersection.
