Rottnest Express
Rottnest Express operates ferries to Rottnest Island out of Fremantle (B Shed and Rous Head) and Barrack St jetty, and carries about 350,000 passengers per year. The business was established by the Kitcher family in the late 1950s, It was bought by Don Brown and Don Dunbar in 2002, and they expanded the business to provide an additional fast ferry service from Fremantle C-shed under the banner of ‘Rottnest Express’. In July 2007, Baileys Marine Group (including Scott Bailey and Guy Bailey) purchased Boat Torque / Rottnest Express. In November 2016, they merged the Rottnest Express business with private equity-backed Experience Australia Group, which owns Great Southern Rail (which operates The Ghan and The Indian Pacific) and Queensland operator Cruise Whitsunday.
