Creative talents find new stages to strut
Recent investment in school theatre facilities is having a mutually beneficial effect.
Penrhos College is a Uniting Church day and boarding school for girls, Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12, located in the suburb of Como in South Perth, Western Australia.
Its purpose is to inspire girls to become extraordinary women.
Founded as MLC South Perth in 1952, the school moved to its current site in Como in the early 1970s, and was renamed Penrhos College in 1975.

As students transition to remote learning ahead of a new school term, private schools are grappling with whether to adjust tuition fees.
Some in WA’s education sector remain at odds over how and when to reopen schools, as the state takes steps to relax its strict social distancing policies.
Some of Western Australia’s most prominent private and independent schools have amassed financial reserves worth tens of millions of dollars in recent decades, with endowment fees supporting the ongoing investments of their associated foundations.
The rapid growth in private school fees has slowed in 2021, but socio- economic status remains a big factor in educational outcomes.

When I commenced as Principal of Penrhos College in 2021, there was much to be proud of. Our vision – to inspire girls to become extraordinary women – has been a noble, and yet ‘real’ goal, and has been a key part of the success and wonderful community our school had been built upon.
As we kick off the new school year, fingers crossed for a more ‘normal’ year, with less Covid-related disruption, Penrhos is thrilled to be able to share the fruits of our last 18 months of collaboration and planning
