Peel Thunder Football Club participates in the WAFL and WAFLW competitions. Established in 1996, the Thunder was admitted into an expanded nine-team Westar Rules competition, playing home games at Rushton Park (now known as Lane Group Stadium)
The club didn't play finals at league level between 1997-2015, although tasted success at colts and reserves level during this period. In 2014, the club formed an alignment with the Fremantle Dockers, in which Dockers players not selected for AFL duty are eligible to play for the Thunder. Since 2015, the club has won two WAFL (2016,2017) and WAFLW (2020,2021) premierships.
