Nokturnl Events was started by Drew Flanagan and Ross Drennan to run a New Year’s Eve party on the Matilda Bay Foreshore in 2010. Nokturnl then went on to start Oktoberfest in the Gardens in 2011 which became the largest touring cultural festival in the country and one of the larger Oktoberfest’s outside of Munich.
It has events in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle.
In June 2018, Nokturnl purchased the derelict heritage buildings at 92 South Terrace, Fremantle and by November 2019 has opened The Old Synagogue hospitality precinct. The success of that outlet was followed by The Beaufort in Mt Lawley which opened in March 2022. In 2024 it opened two new venues in South Perth (The Station in the Civic Heart project) and the in Perth CBD (Stories in Yagan Square).
