A NEW joint venture involving indigenous people in the State’s construction, engineering and mine contracting industries will be launched in Perth today (July 5) by Senator Ian Campbell.
Ngarda began in 2001 as a small mining contractor in the Pilbara region of WA. It grew into a multi-disciplined service provider in the mining, civil and infrastructure sectors, with projects across Australia. It was jointly owned by CIMIC Group subsidiary CPB Contractors and two indigenous partners. The business ceased operating in 2017.

A NEW joint venture involving indigenous people in the State’s construction, engineering and mine contracting industries will be launched in Perth today (July 5) by Senator Ian Campbell.
Leighton Holdings has bought the half stake in Pilbara-based indigenous contracting company Ngarca Civil and Mining previously held by Henry Walker Eltin Ltd. In January, Leighton Contractors acquired Henry Walker Eltin Mining for $211 million.
Indigenous mining contractor Ngarda Civil and Mining will more than double its workforce in the next six months after this week securing the biggest single contract awarded to an Aboriginal company in Australia.
