Mitsubishi Australia is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese trading and investment company, Mitsubishi Corporation.
With offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane, Mitsubishi Australia is engaged in a broad range of business through its trading activities and investments. Its business areas include: Energy, Metals, Machinery, Chemicals, Food, General Merchandise, Automotive Tooling, Equipment & Materials and Business Development.
Mitsubishi’s Western Australian interests include the Browse LNG Project, Kimberley Oil & Gas, Kintyre Uranium project, North-West Shelf LNG, Jack Hills Iron Ore, Oakajee Port & Rail, and the Mundaring Water Treatment Project (through Trility, of which it is a major shareholder).
Its various relevant subsidiaries or interests are: Japan Australia LNG (MIMI) Pty Ltd, a 50-50 joint venture with Mitsui & Co which holds a one-sixth equity interest in the North West Shelf Venture; Diamond Gas Resources (DGR) Pty Ltd which acts as a marketing and sales agent of MIMI's entitlement of condensate and crude oil from the NWS Venture; and Diamond Resources Australia (DRA) Pty Ltd, which is a participant in oil and gas exploration and production activities in Australia; and MC Iron & Steel Pty Ltd which holds a 10% interest in the mothballed HIsmelt Kwinana Joint Venture Project in Western Australia, a direct iron making process.
It also has significant coal interests on the eastern seaboard.
