In 2011, Impact100 WA became the first Impact100 to be founded in Australia. The Impact100 model, started in Cincinnati, USA in 2001, involves "giving circles" of 100 people pooling their donations in philanthropic efforts.
In the case of the WA branch, $1000 donations from 100 people funnel into a $100,000 grant for a WA charity. In this way, the circle provides a means for those unsure of how to get involved to make meaningful philanthropic efforts. The circle also raises members' awareness of worthwhile not-for-profits through a research and review process.
